About Us

The Civil War Examiner is a news and academic research organisation based out of Westchester County, New York, with the primary objective of comparing the international media reactions to the Rwandan Civil War and genocide and the Bosnian Civil War and genocide.

Despite these two crisis taking place in the same half-decade, same U.S. presidential administration, and the same U.N. secretariat, the governmental and global media reactions to them were extremely different.

On our site, you will find two ‘reports’: one reporting on the beginning days of the Rwandan genocide and another detailing accounts of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity during the Bosnian genocide.

These two reports are not meant to be regarded as actual reports on the two incidents. The reports are meant to replicate different articles from the time and how media coverage took place but not be a veritable source for research purposes. To read some of the pieces that served as inspiration for the report, we recommend clicking on the linked articles at the bottom of the two report pages.

The ‘Further Press’ page of our site displays different articles on certain events from Rwanda and Bosnia and shows how those similar incidents were addressed and given attention in the news media.

The Civil War Examiner does not claim ownership of any of the articles or information on the ‘Further Press’ page.

None of the written or visual pieces on this site are meant to minimise or inflate any particular event, trend, or conflict. Both the Rwandan and Bosnian civil wars contained incidents of horrendous violence and attacks on international human rights and the rule of law.

Lastly, the written and visual works on both reports and the ‘Further Press’ page describe scenes of gratuitous violence. We strongly recommend exercising personal discretion when viewing this material.
